Hey there! How has 2023 been treating you so far?
For some reason, every time I think in terms of a “New Year” I have anxiety about everything I want to get done by December 31st. Am I the only one?
There’s so much to do and only 356 more days to get it done…or does it really have to be this way?
I thought I was over it. But my mind keeps going back to New Year’s resolutions— having such a short time to accomplish so much, celebrating the wins, and beating myself up for what I lack.
This year, though, this year will be different! No more racing the clock, no more December 31st deadline! Ha, Mr. Clock, take that!
Because each day is a NEW day, a new opportunity to continue moving towards my goals. One by one, taking baby steps sometimes, to create a healthier, better life. And that won’t end just because the year changes.
Oh yes, with some things we need deadlines as motivation to get it done, but not everything!
As I continue to learn and practice self-compassion, the anxiety about time dissipates. I remind myself that I am better than yesterday, MUCH better than 10 years ago, and will be farther along this time next year.
What about you? What are some goals you want to accomplish—even if it takes three years, five years, ten years or more?
With your health?
Finances?
Career?
Relationships?
Faith?
