How Can I Be Helpful?

I woke up early this morning and thought, "How can I be helpful today?" As I thought about it, I realized this is about the time most people begin planning their New Year's resolutions--and as we all know, most people don't follow through past the first few months. It's not for a lack of trying, but there's this thing called "life" that gets in the way sometimes.

Through my coaching and grief recovery experiences, I know that people want to be successful, want to be healthy, have money, amazing relationships, and an awesome life. It's also through my experiences that I know everyone can be successful and achieve the life they want.

As the morning went on, I was prompted to begin sharing resources that have helped me through the last five years of growth. I thought about all the lessons I've learned building my life and business, all the encouragement from coaches, mentors, training, books, and life experiences.

While talking with my Toastmaster's mentor Mary one day, she shared with me: "All change comes with an awareness to want to change."

Little confession here, I do have an issue with the word, Change. Most people say, "What? I need to change? But I like me!" Yes, I like me too, but we can always be a better version of ourselves.

So instead, I like to ask, "How do you want your life to be different? In love, relationships, career, finances, spiritual, or personal?" Usually a person will come up with at least one thing, if not a laundry list of things she would like to accomplish or do in her lifetime. It's the awareness that can spark action, she may just need some help or prompting...and then we can start brainstorming ideas to make it happen.

Now, you are the recipient of my 4 AM thoughts turned-into-a-personal-challenge on how I can be helpful today. What you do with it is up to you, I'm just excited to share and hopefully help some people on their next journey. I look forward to sharing whatever lesson comes up each day and if you have any questions, feel free to ask--or even share your experiences!
