As I get older, I realize I’ve spent my time, money, energy, and resources on things that don’t matter.
I’ve spent time focusing on things, people, and experiences that have hurt and little on things that inspire. It’s become so easy to dwell on things that I can’t control and on people I can’t change….but that’s changing.
I am 46-years-old and over the last few years I’ve been looking at life in a different way.
Mindfulness is something I’ve been learning over the last couple of years and really applying and practicing more recently. Mindfulness has given me the opportunity to be more present, to focus more on the present moment rather than the past or the future.
Please don’t get me wrong, the past and the future have their place, they just don’t deserve more time and energy than the present.
At this point you may be asking, “What is mindfulness?”
Many people have different ideas of what mindfulness is, so let me share what mindfulness is not:
a way to relax
a religion
a way to change thoughts
difficult…or easy!
a way not to be concerned about the future anymore
impossible to investigate scientifically (there is scientific proof of the benefits)
Mindfulness is:
Becoming more and more popular
“Keeping one’s complete attention to the experience on a moment-to-moment basis in an open and non-judgmental way”
Imagine a life where you:
are fully present, no matter what’s going on
can say “no” to people and things and feel good about it
can slow down your thoughts to bring calm and peace
can build self-awareness, self-compassion and self-love…and so much more!
As always, however you are feeling today, I want you to know that you are never alone. I encourage you to reach out—if not to me, then to someone! Give me a call or text at 951.523.7959, or email me at Teresa@restorationshoppe.com.
I promise you, I may not always know what to say or do, but I can be a huge heart with ears.
I believe in you,
Teresa
